Matthew Ricketson is Professor of Communication at Deakin University and is a chief investigator on this project. He is an expert on the challenges and opportunities facing the Australian news media industry, and has a strong track record of collaboration with industry partners and government through various roles, including his seat on the Australian  Press Council and leadership of industry and academic associations such as the Journalism Education and Research Association of Australia. He led the development of  the Finkelstein report in 2012, which outlines the key  challenges facing the local media sector in Australia.
